MHHS Experiential Learning Week
Students at Matthew Halton High School are taking part in a semi-annual exploration of career opportunities in a hands-on event known as Experiential Learning Week (ELW), May 7-11.
During this week, students will immerse themselves in activities designed to provide a close-up look at a broad variety of careers in sciences, technology, health, psychology, agriculture, trades, cosmetology, athletics, media and design, and even stuntman bootcamp, among many others. Participants will attend sessions at the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College, as well as Mount Royal College in Calgary, and will earn credit for what they've learned.
The purpose of Early Learning Week is to provide opportunities for students to engage in high interest and authentic learning experiences where they gain practical knowledge, skills and/or credentials to help better prepare them for the work force, career interests, and/or skill acquisition in hands-on learning environments.
MHHS students participate in ELW twice a year in the fall and spring.
