Associate Superintendent Chad Kuzyk has announced his retirement from Livingstone Range School Division at the end of this school year. Kuzyk joined the Division in 2010 as an Assistant Principal at Canyon Elementary School. He began in Division Office as Coordinator of Technology in 2012, Director of Learning and Innovation in 2015, and has served as Associate Superintendent since 2019.

"Over the past fifteen years I have come to know Chad as a collaborative, reflective and creative practitioner who is continually engaged in ongoing professional learning opportunities," says Superintendent Darryl Seguin. "He is especially well versed in place-based education experiences and has developed many positive relationships with post-secondary institutions and other community partners through his work to improve educational experiences for students."

Kuzyk has been instrumental in the development and implementation of many innovative practices in LRSD including PEAKS Campus (Place-based Experiences, Adventures & Knowledge for Students), LRSD Pursuits programming (including diploma prep, off-campus programming, dual credit, and FACES), international student program, PEAKS Collegiate Campus for Environmental Science, Firefighting Academy,  Flight Academy, and the Livingstone Ski Academy.

"Chad's legacy of innovative programming in LRSD will benefit students for years to come," says Seguin.

Grateful for the opportunities and experiences he's had in LRSD, Kuzyk says, "As I move on from LRSD, I carry with me a wealth of knowledge and experience gained during my time here. The opportunity to work alongside such dedicated individuals and build lasting relationships has been truly rewarding. These connections will undoubtedly stay with me as I embark on my next chapter."

Kuzyk has been accepted into the PhD in Education Formal & Distributive Leadership program at the University of Lethbridge. He will focus on educational research with an emphasis on place-based education.

We wish Chad Kuzyk all the best in his future endeavors.
