Livingstone School Receives Pre-Planning Funding

Posted on

The Alberta Government has approved Pre-Planning funds to explore a modernization or replacement for Livingstone School in Lundbreck. The funds will be used to cover the cost of value scoping to determine the preferred option (either modernization or replacement) and for Lundbreck community engagement.

"The Board of Trustees is excited to begin the first step on this journey toward Livingstone School’s bright future," says Lori Hodges, Board of Trustees Chair. "We will work with our community stakeholders and potential partners to identify the best value option for the community of Lundbreck and surrounding area."

The original Livingstone School was built in 1902 with additions in 1959, 1968, and a modernization in 1992, along with the removal of the original building. Currently, there are 258 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students at the school, which is also home to the Livingstone Ski Academy.

Livingstone School is the Board of Trustees' next priority project. Pre-Planning funding is the first phase in Alberta Education's process toward new and modernized school buildings. An important aspect of this phase is community engagement, which the Division will begin in June 2025.
